[00:03:06] So, one of the things that that mic does

[00:03:09] Even though it is a dynamic mic

[00:03:12] It doesn't have

[00:03:15] Proximity effect

[00:03:18] You know, like when I get in like this

[00:03:20] You can really hear the difference

[00:03:21] It sounds deeper

[00:03:23] One of the reasons I don't use

[00:03:26] I had an SM7B

[00:03:28] But the problem that I had with it

[00:03:30] Is that I just thought my voice sounded muddy

[00:03:32] Because I do have a deeper voice

[00:03:36] It was

[00:03:37] Trying to

[00:03:38] Okay, I need a cloud lifter

[00:03:39] I need this

[00:03:40] I need that

[00:03:40] And it was like

[00:03:41] You know what?

[00:03:42] Let's just take that back

[00:03:44] Let's go back to using the

[00:03:46] You know, the MV7

[00:03:47] Which works fine

[00:03:49] And then that's when I bought the

[00:03:50] The Rodecaster

[00:03:52] This is like four years ago

[00:03:55] I probably should have

[00:03:57] Hung on to the

[00:03:58] The SM7B a little bit longer

[00:04:00] And see what it would have sounded like

[00:04:02] Going into this interface

[00:04:03] As compared to going into

[00:04:05] Focus rate

[00:04:06] Right

[00:04:07] You know, and see how that would have worked

[00:04:09] But when I was testing out microphones

[00:04:12] That I really thought I sounded good on

[00:04:16] The RE20

[00:04:18] I liked it because I could be talking here

[00:04:19] And I sounded the same

[00:04:20] I could be talking back here

[00:04:22] And I sounded the same

[00:04:22] And the

[00:04:23] And the problem was

[00:04:24] And I've actually got my

[00:04:26] My mixer

[00:04:27] Trying to eliminate

[00:04:29] As much proximity effect as possible

[00:04:31] Because I like to talk up on the microphone

[00:04:33] And I just know that when I do

[00:04:34] I get that

[00:04:35] You know, it just gets muddy sounding

[00:04:38] That doesn't happen with the Electro Voice

[00:04:40] Which is one of the reasons why I'm going to go pick it up

[00:04:42] Yeah

[00:04:42] And it is right in that same ballpark

[00:04:45] As the SM7B or DB or Heil

[00:04:49] 449 on Guitar Center

[00:04:51] Right

[00:04:52] I should not need a cloud lifter for anything

[00:05:20] I don't know about the new ones

[00:05:22] Because I had a Focus Rite

[00:05:24] It's one of the ones I got to get rid of

[00:05:26] I had a Focus Rite

[00:05:30] You had to have that

[00:05:31] Run it through the cloud lifter

[00:05:33] Get it to actually

[00:32:57] Cause you can just use the software to do that. Here is the coolest thing that I think about that

[00:33:04] camera is that if you've got it mounted on your monitor, you can put it in top down mode. So you

[00:33:11] can actually use it to do a overhead of your desk. So if you're doing like an unboxing or something

[00:33:17] like that, um, that is so, that is so cool. Yeah. You're going to have one camera to do that.

[00:33:23] Cause like, whereas we're just, you know, for me, I've got now I, uh, I overdo stuff a lot,

[00:33:31] Bodie. So I've got like a cinema camera that I'm looking at right now. I've got my Logitech camera

[00:33:37] that is right here. I've actually got another Sony camera that's up here. I don't have it turned on

[00:33:43] right now, but like basically to do top down, uh, on an arm that I can swing to the desk behind me

[00:33:48] because I've got two desks backed up to each other. So most of like the unboxing stuff that I do,

[00:33:52] I'll swing the arm around so I can use the same camera over on the other side. And then I've got

[00:33:57] lights everywhere, but, uh, you know, hopefully it, it, it looks good. It is, it is overkill that there

[00:34:04] are, there are people who, if they were to come into my studio, because it technically it is, it is a

[00:34:10] studio at this point. That's what it takes to podcast. No, it doesn't take, it doesn't take all of

[00:34:15] this. It's like, I am, I'm extra, uh, there's, you know, do you need to have a 36 inch, um, uh,

[00:34:24] you know, uh, light fixture after light fixture? No, you don't, you just need to have a good light.

[00:34:29] You don't have to have that light. You don't have to have that light. You don't have to have that

[00:34:32] light. I don't have even all of my, uh, practical lights on behind me. I think I've only got a couple

[00:34:37] of them on back there, but, uh, it doesn't take all of that, but man, it's fun when you do it.

[00:34:43] Yeah, for sure. And this is, this is like, if you do a lot of whiteboard stuff, you're doing

[00:34:47] teaching, you can put these little stickers on your whiteboard. They, uh, they look like little

[00:34:53] L's. You put those stickers on your whiteboard and it will, it will, then you put them on four

[00:34:59] corners and it will lock on to that four corners. And then, so when you're writing, it's like locked

[00:35:04] onto that. So you can put it in whiteboard mode. It's, it's a pretty cool little camera.

[00:35:07] I haven't played with it all that much. So when I do my little review for Allison, I'll

[00:35:12] need to make sure that I understand what's going on, but you can change the exposures,

[00:35:17] the contrast turn on HDR, which makes me look like a big old red ball of garbage. But so

[00:35:24] I take the HD off, but yeah, it's pretty cool.

[00:35:53] a camera that I purchased specifically for that, that I have yet to use it more than 10 times to do

[00:35:59] that with. I've actually, I mean, I've actually got a full camera, uh, my Sony ZV one that I purchased

[00:36:06] explicitly for the, uh, the, you know, the ability to blog with it. And I've only done it maybe 10

[00:36:12] times in, in three, four years that I've had the camera. So it's like, so I'm holding off from

[00:36:17] purchasing a 360 until I even, until I use the camera that I've actually purchased to do it with

[00:36:23] so that I can say, Oh, I don't like it. And that's why I need to go get a 360 because I'm,

[00:36:28] I'm starting to get to, I'm starting to become my dad to where I have, you know,

[00:36:32] it's like camera equipment begets camera equipment. It's like, you know, the more you,

[00:36:36] the more you buy, the more you have to buy. Yeah. I'm trying not to, to get into that, uh,

[00:36:42] into that area, but that 360, um, the one you have and the, you know, the 360 link,

[00:36:47] the one you have, and then just the 360, they are some awesome cameras.

[00:36:51] Yeah, no, it's, uh, it's definitely well worth it. I actually recently bought the ZVE10.

[00:36:59] No, it wasn't for me. It was for work. Um, cause our social media person was looking for a camera

[00:37:05] and a gimbal. So I recommended this one and this is the one we bought. We bought this in the,

[00:37:11] uh, the DJI RS three mini gimbal, which is not many. It is a large gimbal still, but, uh, yeah,

[00:37:21] this is, well, that's a gimbal you can hold in one hand. It is. You probably might want to hold

[00:37:28] it in two, depending on what you're doing, but you can hold it in one hand as compared to the ones

[00:37:32] that are literally harnesses that you have to wear over your shoulders. So it's, it's many compared to

[00:37:36] those cinema gimbels that they use to make movies with. Yeah. No, that's true. So, uh,

[00:37:42] I think we've covered a lot of different things here. What's one, one cool piece of tech you could

[00:37:49] even have talked about it that, uh, you're looking forward to. Um, cool piece of tech for me is this,

[00:37:59] uh, this road, um, caster duo that I literally purchased not an hour ago.

[00:38:07] I just made the purchase. I want to go to Best Buy and pick it up sometime this afternoon after you

[00:38:12] and I get done recording this. Um, it is one of those things where I was mentioning to you that

[00:38:18] I don't, um, I, I have a tendency to want things, but not buy them because, Oh, I don't need it

[00:38:25] because I have, I'm using the original road caster that is sitting right here on my desk that my

[00:38:31] microphone is plugged into and is doing a great job at capturing my voice. So it's not that I need a new,

[00:38:39] um, you know, need a new mixer. I just kind of want one. So I just made the purchase. It's kind

[00:38:44] of an impulse buy and I want to go to a Best Buy, pick it up and then put it through the paces and

[00:38:49] see if it's something that I want to use. So, you know, so the road caster duo is not new tech.

[00:38:53] Um, it is, I wouldn't even necessarily recommend it to somebody who's just getting started out,

[00:38:58] um, with podcasting because it can, you know, it's, it significantly could be overkill. It is a $500

[00:39:03] mixer. Um, but it is something that I've been wanting since it came out and I decided two years

[00:39:11] later to go ahead and pick one up. So I will do, I will do an audio interface as well. And I'm going

[00:39:17] to recommend the wave XLR because in the same way, uh, like I would also, we've been talking about

[00:39:23] this for a while. I would either like the Mackie podcast, uh, mixer audio interface or the, the road

[00:39:30] and both of them do really cool things. Both of them are very similar. They're both of them play the

[00:39:34] same company, but there are some differences between the two. Um, like you said, the, the duo or even the,

[00:39:42] the pros, they, they can become very complicated very quickly. Like I have a universal audio arrow

[00:39:49] and that thing, uh, I used for about six months and I put it in a box because I bought the wave

[00:39:54] XLR because it was so complicated. Every time I'd go to start a show, I'd have to put out yet another

[00:39:59] fire as to why this thing was not working road does. I would say a better job because it's

[00:40:04] specifically for podcasts. The arrow is specifically for music, but the wave XLR, I think I paid 150

[00:40:11] bucks for this thing. It has a big dial on the top or on the front. So you can change the volume.

[00:40:18] You can change your, your audio gain. You can change the mix, you know, how much you can, uh,

[00:40:24] they kind of have like a loop back type service in their software. So if you're, um, getting audio

[00:40:30] from, uh, let's say, you know, your web browser, you can change the mix, but it's very simple.

[00:40:36] You push the button and it, it changes the mode, the big one. But other than that, it's a very simple

[00:40:42] audio interface and it works and it's rock solid. It's USB-C. Um, I have no complaints with this

[00:40:51] in terms of the way that it works. The only thing that I wish is that I had some more options like

[00:40:56] you do, like you can record on your, uh, on your roadcaster pro. Uh, that would be nice to have

[00:41:04] because, you know, I'm not doing that on my computer while I'm trying to do an interview

[00:41:09] and all that stuff, but having something in the background that's separated from the computer

[00:41:12] would be nice. Being able to have that sound bed that you have would be nice to have. But if

[00:41:17] you're just looking for something that's rock solid, this wave XLR, I'm not even, I'm not even using

[00:41:22] a cloud lifter in between on my Heil PR 40. It is directly to the wave XLR. So, uh, that's an Elgato product

[00:41:34] too. So good, good, they'd be good stuff.
