[00:00:24] I'm Sandra and I'm just the professional your small business was looking for,
[00:00:27] but you didn't hire me because you didn't use LinkedIn jobs.
[00:00:30] LinkedIn has professionals you can't find anywhere else, including those who aren't
[00:00:34] actively looking for a new job, but might be open to the perfect role like me.
[00:00:39] In a given month over 70 percent of LinkedIn users don't visit other leading job sites.
[00:00:44] So if you're not looking on LinkedIn, you'll miss out on great candidates like Sandra.

[00:00:52] Slash spoken today.
[00:01:17] Hello, everyone, and welcome to Kilowatt, a podcast about electric vehicles,
[00:01:21] renewable energy, autonomous driving and much, much more.
[00:01:24] My name is Bodhi and I am your host and we are doing an experiment here at
[00:01:30] Kilowatt and that experiment is basically I'm going to retire in three years.
[00:01:36] I have three years and just a few more months and I'm every now and again,
[00:01:41] I try something out new on the show to see if I can do it.
[00:01:45] And it just so happens that on Friday we talked about Tesla's earnings calls and
[00:01:50] on Tuesday we're going to talk about GM's earnings call, but we still have all
[00:01:55] this other EV and Tesla news that we're not discussing.
[00:01:58] So my plan is to take about five minutes and give you the news in roughly five
[00:02:06] minutes. This episode might be a little bit long.
[00:02:09] So Monday, five minutes, Tuesday, 22 minutes, whatever the earnings call ends
[00:02:15] up being Wednesday, five minutes Thursday, five minutes and Friday,
[00:02:20] a normal show with news.
[00:02:22] And what I'm trying to test here is this going to be easier for me on
[00:02:27] Friday by not having a bunch of news that I have to sort through because
[00:02:30] they took little pieces of it and chipped away at it.
[00:02:34] We'll see how it goes.
[00:02:35] I'll let you know on Friday if it's worth it or not.
[00:02:39] All right, let's go ahead and jump in here.
[00:02:43] You know, before we start this episode, it's definitely going to be
[00:02:45] longer than five minutes.
[00:02:47] Before we start, we have a new ACAST supporter.
[00:02:51] And if you support on ACAST Plus, that's awesome.
[00:02:55] I don't get an email telling me that you've done that.
[00:02:57] So unless I go looking, I don't find out.
[00:02:59] So if you don't get a thank you from me, I apologize.
[00:03:02] But I want to thank Gio.
[00:03:04] I'm not going to say your whole email address here.
[00:03:06] But Gio, thank you so much for supporting the show.
[00:03:09] If you need anything, please let me know.
[00:03:11] Reach out to me if it's Bodie, B-O-D-I-E at 918digital.com.
[00:03:16] All right, let's go ahead and jump into the news.
[00:03:18] CATL says that it has a new LFP battery cell that offers a range of 620 miles.
[00:03:26] And it can also add 370 miles of range in 10 minutes based on
[00:03:30] their internal lab testing.
[00:03:32] This isn't real world testing.
[00:03:34] This is in a lab, but still pretty impressive.
[00:03:37] BYD or Build Your Dreams has confirmed that their new yet to be
[00:03:41] announced F-150 competitor will be called the Shark.
[00:03:46] We have some teaser pictures of a blacked out vehicle, but it looks
[00:03:53] it's a pickup truck.
[00:03:54] The article leaked some specs, but we'll go into specs after
[00:03:59] we've actually seen the official announcement because we only
[00:04:02] have five minutes and, you know, people are often wrong about this stuff.
[00:04:09] VinFast has officially added 12 new auto dealerships in the United States.
[00:04:16] So just to be clear, they only had six auto dealerships before this.
[00:04:19] So that's a huge improvement to get from six to 18.
[00:04:24] So they have two in North Carolina, one in New York, six in Texas,
[00:04:28] one in Kansas, five in Florida, one in Connecticut and one in Kentucky.
[00:04:34] So congratulations to VinFast.
[00:04:35] That's that's pretty big news for them.
[00:04:40] It's possible to lease an EV in Washington State for as low as
[00:04:44] $56 a month.
[00:04:46] Let's break that down.
[00:04:48] Washington State has a $9000 point of sale incentive.
[00:04:52] If you lease an EV for three years or more, that's great.
[00:04:58] If you want to buy the EV or lease it for two years, it's a $5,000
[00:05:04] incentive.
[00:05:04] I'm not really sure why the $5,000 for the new EV purchases, but if you
[00:05:08] want to buy it, it's a $5,000 incentive.
[00:05:11] Or if you want to lease it for two years, it's $5,000 point of sale.
[00:05:15] These incentives can be combined with the $7500 federal tax credit.
[00:05:20] So if you wanted to get a Toyota BZ4X, it's $56 a month.
[00:05:27] If you want a Hyundai Kona, it's $78 a month.
[00:05:31] Nissan Leaf, $87 a month.
[00:05:34] Honestly, I'm shocked that leaf is more expensive than the Kona.
[00:05:38] Hyundai Ionic 6, $93 a month.
[00:05:41] Great price right there.
[00:05:43] Subaru Soltera, $123 a month.
[00:05:46] Honestly, if you're looking at the Subaru, you might as well go with
[00:05:48] the Toyota, they're based on the same technology.
[00:05:51] Unless you really love Subaru and you really love paying $70 more a
[00:05:55] month for a car.
[00:05:56] And the Kia Niro Wind, which is $135.
[00:06:01] Now I don't know which Hyundai Kona EV they're giving you for $78, but
[00:06:07] the Niro and the Kona are also pretty similar.
[00:06:10] So if you want to save yourself a little money, go with the Kona.
[00:06:13] If you live in Washington state.
[00:06:17] All right, we're just over five minutes here.
[00:06:18] So I'm wrapping this up.
[00:06:20] According to Consumer Reports, Tesla has the lowest maintenance and
[00:06:23] repair cost of any brand.
[00:06:26] So it actually broke down the top 10 in the article that I read.
[00:06:30] I'm not going to read through all of those.
[00:06:32] I'm just going to tell you that Honda was number 10 and Tesla was number one.
[00:06:36] So the 10 year cost total on average for the Honda vehicles were $5,835.
[00:06:44] And the 10 year cost on average for Tesla was $4,035.
[00:06:49] So you know what?
[00:06:50] Honestly, pretty close when you average it over over 10 years.
[00:06:53] I'll be honest with you, when you're actually paying for those bills,
[00:06:57] it feels like you spend a lot more.
[00:07:00] Let's see this last and final article we're going to talk about.
[00:07:03] And I have to thank Alice and Sheridan and Stephen for bringing
[00:07:07] this to Alison's attention so then she could bring it to my attention.
[00:07:12] Honda will be spending $11 billion to build EVs and battery packs in Canada.
[00:07:17] This is the single largest automotive investment in Canadian history.
[00:07:22] So here's how it breaks down.
[00:07:24] They're going to spend, let's see, $11 billion on four new manufacturing plants.
[00:07:31] One will be an EV plant that'll produce about 240,000 EVs a year.
[00:07:36] The other end, it will be a battery plant, which will produce
[00:07:40] 36 gigawatt hours of batteries per year.
[00:07:44] And then the remaining two will manufacture battery components.
[00:07:49] Right now, Honda has about 4,200 people.
[00:07:53] They're employing in Canada.
[00:07:55] These new plants will employ an additional 1,000 people.
[00:07:58] So that'll bring their headcount to 5,200 employees in Canada.
[00:08:04] And then all of the extra jobs that are created around that.
[00:08:07] So overall, this is really good news.
[00:08:10] All right, everybody, this whole episode was supposed to be less than five minutes.
[00:08:13] It was seven minutes and probably going to be 45 seconds by the time I end this.
[00:08:18] So I want to thank everybody for listening.
[00:08:20] I really appreciate it.
[00:08:21] If you have a question or you want to email me, it's Bodi Bode.
