[00:00:00] I'm

[00:00:16] Guess what time it is its shuffle playlist time. I am Bodie. I am your host and I'm here with my co-host Chris. Hey

[00:00:24] Chris season one no season two episode one

[00:00:29] They said it would yeah, they said it wouldn't last. Well, they were wrong. Yeah

[00:00:35] Alright so Chris this is your pick

[00:00:38] So we're going with ska based on what the the AI generated topic and I'm actually pleased with it because ska is

[00:00:48] Interesting to me. I was actually in a ska band for about six seven years

[00:00:52] I had kind of a love hate relationship with ska think I just got sick of it, but for this song I went with real big fish

[00:01:10] Sell out because that song got me excited about being in a

[00:01:15] Skaw band because it was one of the first songs I heard that was kind of like a punk

[00:01:20] Skaw but it also had horns

[00:01:23] Which I think actually made the song sound really cool

[00:01:26] So I'm very excited to get into this one because this is a song that I still love and know the lyrics to

[00:01:32] Pretty much all of it even today. So 30 days 30 years later, and I still love the song

[00:01:38] Yes, so two things one

[00:01:41] We use chat GPT to generate I don't know if nobody listened to our last time. Oh, right

[00:01:47] That wouldn't make any sense then yeah, which we should probably say

[00:01:51] We want your requests, but until we get your requests

[00:01:55] We use chat GPT to tell us what songs we were or what genre of songs we had to pick from yes and Chris got ska

[00:02:03] Yes, he did so until

[00:02:06] People send in the request of songs for us to listen to this is how it's going and this is what it picked and so

[00:02:13] hats off to the computer on that was pleasantly surprised with the with the genre

[00:02:18] Yes, so real big fish. I'm not a real big fan

[00:02:23] I see what you did there. It's not I'm not I'm not not a fan like I like the song

[00:02:27] Yeah, I just haven't like I think that's the only song by real big fish that I could identify

[00:02:33] And I had to listen to it before I knew anything about it. So soon as it started how long before you knew exactly what the song was oh

[00:02:40] Three bars

[00:02:42] Yeah, exactly and that's how it is like nobody's like oh god

[00:02:45] I remember that song like that's yeah

[00:02:47] It's one of those songs where you hear like the first couple notes. You know like holy crap

[00:02:51] I remember that song completely yes, and I really liked the song like I don't have I like Scott music

[00:02:57] I don't have anything I just

[00:02:59] It was just not a thing like when this band was around. I had no money

[00:03:03] So any CDs or tapes that I purchased they really had to be it was a small

[00:03:10] Select you know tapes at that time are like 10 oh yeah 10 12 bucks in a CD

[00:03:16] You could spend $19 on something like that

[00:03:18] Yeah, and you just hope the rest of it was as good as that one song right and might as well

[00:03:22] Been a hundred dollars because it was just really much so to buy this stuff yes very much

[00:03:27] Yeah, so you have fun fact I do have a fun fact and it was I

[00:03:33] It's funny because it involves the title and everybody kind of assumes in the band is talked about this that based on the lyrics like so out like

[00:03:41] You know, it was it is just that like sure they have sold out to the mainstream label or not

[00:03:46] But apparently that's not what it was entirely about

[00:03:49] The weed singer. I don't have his name on me. It was Aaron something

[00:03:53] Barnett Barrett. Yeah, so apparently there was a scab and that they really liked called the dad dancehall crashers

[00:04:00] And they were I think one of the first

[00:04:02] Scabands to actually sign with the neighbor major label and when they did dancehall crashers

[00:04:08] They dropped their horn section which apparently pissed off real big fish and others in that area in California

[00:04:16] Because then they felt like they were more punk and not really scoff

[00:04:19] So I guess they wrote this song is kind of a slap in the face of one of their favorite bands at the time

[00:04:25] Because I don't know if real big fish was being pressured to drop their horns as well

[00:04:30] But it's always been kind of like the big kind of debate with Scott partly honestly why I didn't like

[00:04:35] Skull all that much

[00:04:37] For some time was because I just thought the horns kind of made it kind of weird

[00:04:40] but they wrote a hit song with

[00:04:44] With horns and trumpets

[00:04:46] And that's still pretty awesome 30 years later

[00:04:50] Yeah, we were talking earlier about cherry pop and daddies

[00:04:54] The bloody boss tones Brian sets her Brian sets her so we were talking about this. I have a funny

[00:04:59] I have a funny joke or not a funny joke a funny story

[00:05:03] That's on me right when I was brand new in my job and my current job

[00:05:07] Which is like 16 years ago?

[00:05:09] I was hanging out with some guys and they were we were trying to bond over something right and

[00:05:14] One of the guys is a big deaf tones fan and he goes you like the deaf tones

[00:05:18] And I was like, I love the mighty mighty deaf tones. He's like shut up

[00:05:23] What about different there?

[00:05:25] To this day isn't let me forget he's like that see though

[00:05:28] That's it's yeah, it's it's interesting like my divided boss tones and they were big too

[00:05:33] But I never liked them as much. I just didn't like third style of Scott

[00:05:36] Just with real big fish like the song. It's more punkish

[00:05:50] It true Scott news and have Sam horns but when you look up scott bands

[00:05:54] You have like like sublime comes up and you think okay

[00:05:58] Well, are they really Scott because I don't know we have trumpets and those things

[00:06:01] You know, but it's interesting that they list them a scott into some people

[00:06:05] They're not because you have to have the horns in there. And so the fact that this song

[00:06:11] Has it and sounds good with it is kind of a kind of a rarity of the genre in my opinion

[00:06:17] Yeah, it's just got that

[00:06:18] The sky is mostly like that that just random not random that offbeat strumming exactly normally

[00:06:24] You would have been a different like on a rock and roll song

[00:06:27] You have a pretty standard standard strumming pattern and scott's opposite of that. Yeah, it's got kind of the reggae roots

[00:06:32] Kind of almost and see like to me sublime is almost exactly

[00:06:36] Exhibiting to me would sell more reggae to me than scott but

[00:06:40] That is the evolution of the genre I guess are we calling cake

[00:06:44] Are they?

[00:06:47] No, no because they're they're one of a kind man

[00:06:50] I can't I don't know that I can't really put them in their own category

[00:06:54] But that's a really good mention actually because there are one of the other rare bands

[00:06:58] It have horns that I really like but it's

[00:07:01] They're different. I don't know

[00:07:02] They use their horns kind of as a jazzy X exactly. It's kind of that lounge style almost like they do that all both

[00:07:09] Thing or I don't even know what horns are in there, but like it's that's a good mention well well said

[00:07:14] No, stop

[00:07:16] All right Chris

[00:07:17] I got nothing else to say what do you got to say?

[00:07:19] I just it's cool going down memory lane, you know because like I said being in that scaband and having to write songs for a genre that

[00:07:26] I wasn't always sold on until like songs like this came out

[00:07:29] It's cool to hear it and then just to reminisce on it and hopefully you guys like it and have fun with it

[00:07:36] same

[00:07:38] Hey if you would like to send in a request for us

[00:07:42] If you have a song that you really like and you want us to listen to it

[00:07:46] Sent it in to bode bode at 918 digital com

[00:07:51] And I will be happy to pass that along to Chris and at this point since only

[00:07:56] Chip is the only person who's sent anything

[00:07:58] That's all right man worth the season. Let the computer go down the path. That's okay

[00:08:03] Yeah, yeah, if you don't send in your email with your your song that you like

[00:08:07] You're basically letting AI win which is one step towards having terminators like we're one step

[00:08:14] Yes, and you are you will must would be upset

[00:08:17] So is any anti AI yes? Yeah, I figured that too. So I keep seeing things with him he is anti AI

[00:08:24] But he wants to start his own AI. He uses AI machine learning and

[00:08:28] Pretty sure he already uses it just against so kind of a weird message there is a conversation

[00:08:32] I have a lot with my dumb friends at you

[00:08:34] Oh, wow, I'm only one of your dumb friends domes

[00:08:38] Interesting very interesting all right Chris

[00:08:41] Let's call this one good

[00:08:43] Sounds good. Thank you everybody for listening and we will see you in two weeks sounds good. Thank you everybody
