2024 Delivery Numbers and CES Update #1

Description:

In this episode, I share my experiences from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), a pivotal hub for innovation in electric vehicles and renewable energy. I recount the vibrant atmosphere, my networking endeavors, and serendipitous encounters with fellow podcasters. Updates on the electric vehicle market include the recent recall of Kia's EV9s and the launch of Lucid Motors' SUV, the Lucid Air Gravity. I highlight competitive dynamics among manufacturers and extend the conversation with interviews from industry leaders like EcoFlow, discussing their innovative energy solutions. I also analyze Tesla's production milestones and year-over-year sales trends. This reflection on CES leads me to consider my future participation in such events while inviting listener engagement and support.

[00:00:21] Hello everyone and welcome to Kilowatt, a podcast about electric vehicles, renewable energy, autonomous driving and much, much more. My name is Bodian, I am your host and I am at CES. What a wonderful time to be alive. Being at CES is an interesting experience. You're making a lot of really great connections. You're talking to a lot of really cool people. You're walking a lot.

[00:00:49] You're getting lost a lot. But before we get into the CES stuff, I do want to let you know that we have a new Patreon supporter and that is Lynn. So thank you Lynn for going to patreon.com forward slash kilowatt or if you got there with support kilowatt.com and signing up and becoming a patron. I really appreciate that. Lynn, as far as I know, Lynn might be the only person who's ever filled out a work welcome survey. Now this may not be the case.

[00:01:19] Some some of you may have filled this out. This is just for me. This is the first one I can remember. And I'm going to say a hundred percent of those who filled out their surveys as to why they decided to support the show was to get rid of the ads. So thank you very much Lynn for not only signing up and becoming a patron, but also filling out survey. It was really cool. I didn't even know we had a survey. Like again, I'm not I'm not saying that I didn't.

[00:01:49] I didn't set that up. I just don't I do not remember doing it. But I think it's super cool that you filled it out and give us some feedback. It was really good. So thank you Lynn. Welcome. If you need anything, please feel free to email me. It's Bodie B O D I E at 918 digital dot com.

[00:02:09] Now today is Tuesday. As a matter of fact, as I'm recording this, it is 1202 AM. So today is Wednesday. I have been at CES for two days. I woke up at 530 in the morning on Monday and got on the plane ready to go to work.

[00:02:25] I had my my fancy pants, podcaster clothes on and collared shirt and all that. Went to the airport and, you know, totally ready to work on Monday. Totally ready to work.

[00:02:39] I arrived in Las Vegas. I came to the hotel, which I'm saying that Treasure Island came to the hotel and dropped off my bag and immediately went to the Las Vegas Convention Center.

[00:02:50] There's only one problem. It wasn't open. There was today was that day. Monday was not a day that I could just go in and look at the exhibits and talk to people.

[00:03:04] So I send Allison and Steve Sheridan a text and I said, hey, I'm at the Las Vegas Convention Center. And I get a text back saying, oh, I didn't know there was anything going on there today. And that is because there's not.

[00:03:17] So I took a cab back into or no, I took a bus back to Treasure Island, hung out with Steve and Allison Sheridan.

[00:03:27] And I made a met a bunch of really cool podcast folks that are friends with Steve and Allison.

[00:03:33] And I could go through the people that I remember, but I'll probably forget.

[00:03:37] So Mac Geek Gab, Mac Voices, and I'm sure there's other ones.

[00:03:42] Again, I forget I've been up for a very long time. My brain is very tired.

[00:03:47] But it's been really nice to chat with other creators and kind of get some, you know, just kind of share tips and stuff like that.

[00:03:56] So that's been a nice experience.

[00:03:58] But anyway, my room wasn't ready yet.

[00:04:00] So Allison and Steve let me hang out with them in their room.

[00:04:03] So they showed me all the things that they saw the previous day at, I think it's called Insights, which was some cool stuff.

[00:04:13] And I would encourage you to go to Allison's podcast, No Silicast, and stay tuned because they're going to be doling out those interviews slowly.

[00:04:25] But Allison and Steve are collecting interviews at a crazy rate.

[00:04:29] But at this point, I think I have 10, maybe 11.

[00:04:34] And Allison and Steve have like 40.

[00:04:38] It's crazy.

[00:04:40] Now, I will say, you know, I'm trying to concentrate more on, you know, the EV renewable energy space.

[00:04:47] And they're a little bit more open to different technologies.

[00:04:51] But even then, I've got some interviews from like microphone makers and stuff like that for the other podcasts beyond the post.

[00:05:00] So anyway, they're just they just have a breakneck speed that they're doing this stuff at.

[00:05:06] But anyway, on Monday night, I went to Pepcom and I got some really good interviews for you there.

[00:05:14] And I'm going to I have to go through and kind of organize and categorize them.

[00:05:18] And I had a notebook where I was keeping track of all the interviews that I did with all the people that I talked to.

[00:05:25] And unfortunately, I think I left the notebook on a bus.

[00:05:29] So that's that's a real unfortunate problem because I had a lot of good notes in there.

[00:05:36] But I will listen back to the the the the clips and I will I will fill in the holes as best as I can.

[00:05:45] So Pepcom was really cool.

[00:05:47] Got home about midnight on Monday night and then woke up on Tuesday, went down to Las Vegas Convention Center.

[00:05:55] We were able to spend a little bit of time looking at some of the exhibits.

[00:05:59] And then we sat and did the Daily Tech News show, which was a lot of fun.

[00:06:04] It's Daily Tech News show episode 4930.

[00:06:07] I'll put a link in the show notes.

[00:06:08] And we just kind of talked about the cool stuff that we saw there.

[00:06:13] And then my co-host after that, my co-host Rob and I, Rob Dunwood, we ran around the convention and just kind of talked to people for our show.

[00:06:23] And then, yeah, I made some contacts with the Scout Motors folks.

[00:06:29] I'm hoping to go in tomorrow morning and talk to them.

[00:06:33] Aptera is there, so I'm going to talk to them as well.

[00:06:35] I did get an interview with one of the founders of Lightship, which is a EVRV, but it's a trailer.

[00:06:44] They're doing something really cool.

[00:06:46] I talk a little bit about that on the Daily Tech News show.

[00:06:51] And I got an interview with Pivotal, which is a electric vertical takeoff and landing craft.

[00:06:58] It's like a single person drone, basically.

[00:07:01] And I interviewed the first Pivotal customer.

[00:07:07] And when I tell you the amount of joy this man gets from flying his EVTOL, like you can just see it radiating off of him when he talks about the experience of flying this.

[00:07:19] So we have that interview and a bunch of others.

[00:07:21] But, yeah, tomorrow morning I'm waking up and I'm getting to the convention center at around 9 a.m.

[00:07:28] And I am just going to go whole hog on interviews until about 1.30 or 2.

[00:07:36] And then I got to come back and get ready for my flight back to Phoenix.

[00:07:41] So I actually did try to extend my stay.

[00:07:44] My wife was okay with this, which was cool.

[00:07:47] But I did try to extend my stay.

[00:07:48] Unfortunately, I'd have to book for three days in a row.

[00:07:52] So there'd been like another $900.

[00:07:54] And I'd only stay for one day.

[00:07:56] So it was not a thing that I was willing to do for that.

[00:07:59] But next year, I think I'll do something similar while coming on a Monday.

[00:08:03] But instead of leaving on a Wednesday, I'll leave on a Thursday morning.

[00:08:07] That way I can get to a few more things.

[00:08:11] And there's some people here that I would like to see that I really haven't even had time to chat with them.

[00:08:17] All right.

[00:08:17] So we have some EV news here.

[00:08:20] I'm going to – and it's not a lot of EV news.

[00:08:24] There is a lot of EV news in the cycle right now.

[00:08:27] But I'm going to try to keep this a little bit scaled down a little bit because I have an interview with the EcoFlow folks, the battery maker EcoFlow.

[00:08:37] And I wanted to share that with you today right after we talk about the EV and Tesla news.

[00:08:44] So let's start it off.

[00:08:45] Kia is recalling 23,000 EV9s in the United States.

[00:08:51] The issue is that some of the vehicles affected maybe missing bolts that hold the seats in place.

[00:08:59] It doesn't mean that it is.

[00:09:00] It just means that it may be.

[00:09:01] And this could affect 2024 and 2025 models.

[00:09:06] As of right now, no reports of crashes due to this problem or injuries or fatalities.

[00:09:13] Owners will be notified by Kia via mail of the recall and how to get that done at the dealer.

[00:09:22] Obviously, this is not an over-the-air update for this particular issue.

[00:09:27] Moving on to Lucid Motors.

[00:09:29] Lucid has started delivering their new Lucid Air Gravity fully electric SUV.

[00:09:35] And just kind of as a side note here, when I was walking back from one of the events today, I actually saw a Lucid Gravity driving by.

[00:09:45] So I didn't get a great look at it because it was nighttime and it kind of just zoomed by.

[00:09:51] But I noticed the body styling and it said Lucid on the back.

[00:09:54] So I thought, oh, well, that must be, obviously, that's the gravity.

[00:09:58] It's a cool car.

[00:09:59] Cool, cool-looking car from what I saw of it.

[00:10:02] But initially, deliveries are going to employees and family and friends of employees.

[00:10:08] And I'm guessing, you know, investors like, you know, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia probably is getting one if he hasn't already gotten one.

[00:10:22] Other reservation holders are coming.

[00:10:25] I mean, you know, just be patient if you're a reservation holder, you will get your Lucid in a decent amount of time here.

[00:10:32] Peter Rawlinson keeps saying that the Gravity is going to be a bigger seller than the sedan.

[00:10:39] And that's probably true because the SUV is a more popular vehicle category.

[00:10:44] But right now, this car starts at $94,900 and maxes out at $126,500.

[00:10:54] That's with every option turned on, right?

[00:10:57] That's a pretty spindy SUV, even still, right?

[00:11:02] I don't think that the Gravity will outsell the air in 2025.

[00:11:09] It might be like a split down the middle, 50-50.

[00:11:11] But I don't think we're going to see the Gravity outsell the air.

[00:11:14] Not because it's not more popular or not because people don't want it.

[00:11:18] It's just I don't think that Lucid's going to get manufacturing up and running that fast.

[00:11:25] And we'll talk about some Lucid delivery numbers here in just a moment.

[00:11:29] But I do think the Gravity is going to be a good product for them.

[00:11:32] I don't know if it's like a savior product for the company, right?

[00:11:36] If they didn't have all this money coming in from Saudi Arabia, would Lucid still be around

[00:11:42] if they had the Gravity?

[00:11:44] And the answer is I don't think so.

[00:11:47] Just to give you an idea, the Mercedes EQS is a three-row electric SUV.

[00:11:53] It starts at $104,000 and tops out at $137,000.

[00:11:59] Mercedes has only sold 6,296 of those vehicles as of October 2024.

[00:12:08] So that's not that many.

[00:12:09] I don't think that is going to keep Lucid afloat.

[00:12:13] Now, the benefit that Lucid has is they have a giant piggy bank in the Saudi wealth fund.

[00:12:20] But at some point in time, Saudi Arabia is going to want to return on their money.

[00:12:28] So we'll keep an eye on this and see what happens.

[00:12:30] I really hope Lucid does well.

[00:12:33] I'm not trying to say that I don't want to do well.

[00:12:36] I just think that their products are so ridiculously priced and they're quality products.

[00:12:42] Like, don't get me wrong.

[00:12:44] I'm not saying that they're not worth the money, but they need to have something that's under

[00:12:48] like $70,000 and preferably around $50,000 to really kick off their, you know, the success

[00:12:58] of their business.

[00:12:59] I don't think they're going to do that by selling a few Lucids here and there.

[00:13:05] And we'll get into delivery numbers in just a second.

[00:13:09] But before we do that, let's talk about a new feature that Lucid has.

[00:13:15] Lucid has a HeyLucid feature, which is an AI assistant.

[00:13:20] So you say HeyLucid and then you follow that with any command that you would expect to say

[00:13:25] while driving a car.

[00:13:27] Lucid is actually using Soundhound's voice assistant to do this.

[00:13:31] And I'm going to try and get an interview with them tomorrow.

[00:13:33] Um, but I think Soundhound is one of the most underrated voice assistants out there.

[00:13:39] If you remember, right, right around the time that Apple bought Siri, Soundhound came out

[00:13:44] with their iPhone app and it was like, it was groundbreaking because you can ask it a,

[00:13:50] you can ask it a question and then you can ask it a follow-up question.

[00:13:54] And at that time, you know, voice assistants like Siri were basically ask the question and then it

[00:14:03] forgot exactly, you know, forgot two seconds later what you had asked it.

[00:14:06] And then if you asked the follow-up question, it wouldn't know what you're talking about in some

[00:14:09] cases.

[00:14:10] So, um, I think what Soundhound is doing is, is pretty cool.

[00:14:14] So I will try and get an interview with them tomorrow.

[00:14:17] All right, let's get to Lucid's production and delivery numbers for 2024.

[00:14:24] This isn't for any particular quarter.

[00:14:27] This is for the entire year of 2024.

[00:14:30] Lucid produced 9,029 Lucid Airs and delivered 10,241 Lucid Airs.

[00:14:39] So let me repeat that.

[00:14:41] This is for the entire year.

[00:14:44] They produced 9,029 and delivered 10,241.

[00:14:50] To give some contrast to that Rivian's Q4 2024 numbers, just Q4, not, not the entire year,

[00:15:00] just the Q4, they produced 12,727 EVs.

[00:15:08] That includes the delivery vans and the R1S and the R1T.

[00:15:11] And they delivered 14,183.

[00:15:15] So in one quarter, Rivian's numbers were better than Lucid's numbers for the entire year.

[00:15:25] This is, this is kind of where the problem is.

[00:15:26] In 2024, Rivian produced 49,476 EVs and they delivered 51,679 total, which was a record

[00:15:40] year for Rivian.

[00:15:41] And congratulations to the Rivian team for that.

[00:15:43] That's, that's amazing.

[00:15:45] Now let's talk about some legacy automakers here because GM had a record 2024 in terms of

[00:15:51] EV sales as well.

[00:15:53] They sold 114,434 electric vehicles in 2024.

[00:16:01] So the Chevy Equinox topped that list at 28,847.

[00:16:09] Just kind of as a point of reference, two thirds of those vehicles were sold in the last three

[00:16:16] months of 2024.

[00:16:17] So the Equinox really came up from behind at the end to, to take the lead.

[00:16:24] Now the Cadillac Lyric, they sold 28,402 of those.

[00:16:29] So almost as many Equinoxes in the Cadillac Lyric is obviously a more expensive vehicle.

[00:16:35] And 8,000 of those.

[00:16:37] So, you know, around one third of those or roughly were sold in the fourth quarter.

[00:16:44] And I was thinking about this and I want to know what you think.

[00:16:47] Do you think that the boost in sales in the fourth quarter had anything to do with the $7,500

[00:16:53] federal tax credit here in the United States, possibly going away?

[00:16:57] Like somebody's out shopping for a vehicle and they're like, well, you know what?

[00:17:01] If I buy it now versus if I wait three months, I know I'm going to get the tax credit now.

[00:17:06] If I wait three months, I might not get the tax credit.

[00:17:08] So I'm just going to pull the trigger.

[00:17:10] So do you think that that's going on in this case?

[00:17:13] I'm not sure one way or the other, but I do think there's some validity to that, to that

[00:17:19] kind of thinking.

[00:17:19] And then the third place for GM was the Chevy Blazer at 23,115 EVs.

[00:17:30] And if you remember that the Blazer had some software issues.

[00:17:34] So in December of 2023, they paused the sale of the Blazer and they didn't start it back

[00:17:39] up again until March of 2024.

[00:17:41] So I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chevy Blazer in the top spot next year.

[00:17:46] Now, as far as the other EVs that the GM is selling, we're looking at 14,000 of the Hummer

[00:17:55] EVs and that vehicle starts around $100,000, the SUV and the pickup truck.

[00:18:00] So 14,000 of those is quite a lot.

[00:18:04] The Chevy Silverado EV sold 7,428 and they sold 1,788 GMC Sierra EVs.

[00:18:15] So, oh, and you know what?

[00:18:17] They have the Bright Drop Vans, which are now under the Chevy moniker or Chevy's control,

[00:18:23] I guess.

[00:18:23] The Bright Drop Vans delivered 1,529.

[00:18:28] Now, if you're like me, it's like, oh, well, those numbers don't equal, you know, the 100,000,

[00:18:39] let's see, 114,434 electric vehicles sold in 2024.

[00:18:45] Well, that's because some of those are hybrids.

[00:18:51] So GM really sold 76,262 EVs and then the rest were hybrids.

[00:18:59] And then that brings us to Ford's EV sales numbers.

[00:19:04] Ford sold 28,000, or excuse me, 285,600 electrified vehicles in 2024, which is up 38% year over year.

[00:19:15] 97,865 of those were fully electric.

[00:19:20] So Ford's still outperforming GM in terms of sales on the EV side, the pure EV side.

[00:19:30] And the fully electric vehicle sales are up 34% year over year, so not too shabby.

[00:19:38] If you remember right earlier in the year, Ford did some pretty aggressive pricing for EVs.

[00:19:45] So I don't know if, you know, while the numbers are decent for Ford, I don't know if they're making

[00:19:50] any money on their EVs, but they're, you know, keeping those sales up.

[00:19:56] They sold 33,510 F-150 Lightnings, 51,745 Mustang Mach-Es, and they sold 97,865 of the E-Transit vans.

[00:20:10] So not too shabby.

[00:20:13] In terms of where EVs are going in 2025, I think we're going to see continued growth in EV sales.

[00:20:24] Cox Automotive thinks that one in four vehicles sold in the United States in 2025 will be electric.

[00:20:29] I am not that optimistic.

[00:20:30] I do not think the number will be even close to that high, but we'll see.

[00:20:36] Okay, that is it for our EV news.

[00:20:39] Now, I'm not going to give a Patreon plug because we've already talked about Patreon.

[00:20:45] You know where to go if you want to support this show.

[00:20:50] I'll leave it at that.

[00:20:53] All right, let's get to Tesla's delivery numbers.

[00:20:57] First of all, a big congratulation to the Tesla team because they have sold over 7 million EVs or vehicles,

[00:21:07] if you just want to get it, because Tesla only sells EVs.

[00:21:11] So that is quite a milestone.

[00:21:13] So congratulations to the team on that.

[00:21:15] Now, in terms of Q4 2024 numbers, the Model 3 and Y, they produced 436,718 of those,

[00:21:29] and they delivered 47,930 Model 3s and Ys.

[00:21:35] So pretty good numbers.

[00:21:36] The other category, which includes SX, Cybertruck, and Semi, although I'm not sure how many Tesla Semi's are selling at this point,

[00:21:45] they produced 22,727 of those vehicles, and they delivered 23,640.

[00:21:53] Now, that gives us a grand total of 459,444 vehicles produced and 495,570 delivered for Q4.

[00:22:08] Not for the year, for Q4 2024, which these numbers seem impressive, but they also fell below what Tesla gave the Wall Street for their guidance.

[00:22:22] But I still think they're pretty decent numbers just in general.

[00:22:27] If you look at the other EV companies out there, Tesla's still killing it.

[00:22:30] Now, if you look at 2024 as a whole, Tesla produced 1,679,338 Model 3s and Ys, and they delivered 1,704,093 of those same vehicles.

[00:22:50] So that's pretty impressive.

[00:22:52] In terms of other vehicles, again, SX, Cybertruck, and Semi, they produced 94,105 of those vehicles and delivered 85,133.

[00:23:11] There is or was a decline in deliveries year over year.

[00:23:16] A lot is being made about this, but I'm going to tell you that the decrease or the decline is like a percent.

[00:23:26] It's not very much.

[00:23:27] It's not, and it's not the end of the world.

[00:23:29] Like in 2023, Tesla delivered 1,808,581 EVs,

[00:23:39] and they delivered, you know, in 2024, 1,789,225.

[00:23:46] We're not, those numbers aren't super far away from each other.

[00:23:49] Again, I do think there are reasons why Tesla's vehicle sales and deliveries would decline.

[00:23:57] One of those reasons would be because their model line is starting to look a little long in the tooth.

[00:24:03] You know, they refreshed the Model 3, but the Model S, X, and Y are still, you know, they still look nice.

[00:24:11] They don't look bad, but they're looking a little old, I'll be honest.

[00:24:18] So we're going to get a Model Y refresh soon.

[00:24:21] One, if rumors are to be, are to be, are to be, are to be believed,

[00:24:30] if we're going to believe the rumors, then we're definitely going to see a refresh of the Model Y.

[00:24:37] But I don't know if that's enough.

[00:24:39] And then the other reason, whether you agree with Elon's politics or not,

[00:24:43] that doesn't make people very happy.

[00:24:45] And even if you do agree with Elon's politics, the way he conducts himself lately,

[00:24:50] people are finding very off-putting.

[00:24:52] So even if you believe all the stuff that he's saying,

[00:24:55] the way that he is going after people and talking and some of his other beliefs

[00:25:01] are causing strife, even amongst the people who agree with him.

[00:25:06] So that is also maybe a little bit of a problem.

[00:25:10] But I don't know that this is a thing that we need to worry about right now.

[00:25:16] 1% decline, not a big deal.

[00:25:18] We'll see where we are in the next quarter and the quarter after that.

[00:25:23] And we'll just kind of track it.

[00:25:24] But where we're at right now,

[00:25:26] I don't think we should be throwing our hands up and panicking for sure.

[00:25:33] Tesla has started pushing out FSD supervised 12.6 to hardware three vehicles.

[00:25:39] Tesla said that they were going to do this by the end of the year.

[00:25:42] And they did.

[00:25:43] They just like in the nick of time, they did it right, right before the end of the year.

[00:25:49] A few of the features that you can expect to find in 12.6.

[00:25:55] End-to-end on highway.

[00:25:57] I have no idea what this means.

[00:25:59] I'm guessing it's end-to-end navigation on the highway,

[00:26:02] but they didn't give any indication.

[00:26:06] Improved city streets behavior, which reduces faults, slowdowns,

[00:26:10] and improves obstacle avoidance.

[00:26:14] Customizable speed profiles, which apply to roads and highways with 50 miles an hour

[00:26:22] or 80 kilometers per hour or higher speed.

[00:26:26] Earlier and more natural lane change decisions.

[00:26:29] I love this.

[00:26:31] I would love to have that in my vehicle when I get the trial.

[00:26:36] Redesign controller for smoother and more accurate tracking.

[00:26:41] Don't know what that means.

[00:26:43] Max speed update, where autopilot determines the suitable speed within your allowed limits.

[00:26:50] Limits, excuse me.

[00:26:52] So some of these features are actually version 13 features that people with hardware 4 have.

[00:27:00] It's become clear that we're not going to see a full self-driving on hardware 3.

[00:27:08] They're really struggling.

[00:27:09] Now, it's cool that they're getting some of these options in there,

[00:27:12] and I commend Tesla for not giving up on hardware 3 entirely.

[00:27:15] And I do think in the past they have said that if you paid for full self-driving,

[00:27:21] they will upgrade your computer for free.

[00:27:23] But they also said in the past that they would not be able to upgrade your computer

[00:27:27] because it was completely different.

[00:27:31] So, you know, whatever you believe there, I guess, is fine.

[00:27:40] Then that leads us to our final Tesla story.

[00:27:43] And this comes from Joseph.

[00:27:47] Free supercharging when you purchase a Cybertruck Foundation series.

[00:27:52] There are conditions you need to order after December 27th, 2024,

[00:28:00] which we're past that.

[00:28:02] But the free supercharging is not transferable.

[00:28:07] So if you sell your vehicle or give it to somebody,

[00:28:11] you will not be able to keep that free supercharging,

[00:28:15] or they won't be able to.

[00:28:19] Another disqualification for you is if you use your supercharger,

[00:28:23] or excuse me, if you use your Cybertruck for taxi services,

[00:28:27] ride sharing, or delivery services,

[00:28:29] you will not qualify for this promotion.

[00:28:32] And if you're purchasing the vehicle for business purposes,

[00:28:35] you don't qualify either.

[00:28:37] And then, of course, used vehicles don't qualify.

[00:28:40] If you do qualify,

[00:28:42] the owner is responsible for any idling fees or congestion fees.

[00:28:50] And then, if you remember,

[00:28:51] the Cybertruck came with a PowerShare adapter,

[00:28:55] so you can do bi-directional charging on your house,

[00:28:58] or bi-directional power on your house,

[00:29:01] it doesn't come with that.

[00:29:03] You'll just get the free supercharging.

[00:29:05] You don't get the voucher for the install and the equipment and all that stuff.

[00:29:09] And then Tesla reserves the right to remove you from the free supercharging.

[00:29:17] If charging becomes excessive or you have unpaid fees,

[00:29:22] they'll remove you from the system,

[00:29:24] from the promotion.

[00:29:26] And I think most of that is fair.

[00:29:29] All right, everybody.

[00:29:31] That is it for me.

[00:29:33] Now, I did say we were going to have an interview,

[00:29:36] and we will.

[00:29:36] We're going to have an interview here in a moment.

[00:29:39] But before we go,

[00:29:40] I want to give you my email address.

[00:29:42] It's bodibodigital.com.

[00:29:46] I want to encourage you to email me any of your thoughts or anything like that,

[00:29:50] because I want to hear from you.

[00:29:53] I want to...

[00:29:55] You can also find me on Twitter at 918 Digital.

[00:29:58] And yeah, my ears, it's now 12.37 a.m.,

[00:30:03] and I've got to wake up early.

[00:30:04] My ears are...

[00:30:06] My brain is melting out of my ears.

[00:30:08] So I'm going to play the clip,

[00:30:10] and then we're going to play music,

[00:30:11] and then we're all going to go to bed.

[00:30:12] So I hope you all have a wonderful week.

[00:30:15] Thank you all so much for being supportive while I was sick.

[00:30:19] Really do appreciate you all for letting me,

[00:30:22] you know, helping me come here

[00:30:24] and participate in CES.

[00:30:26] You know, the Patreon supporters

[00:30:30] only helped pay for this trip,

[00:30:33] but if you listen to the show with the ad feed,

[00:30:36] you know, the Patreon supporters

[00:30:38] were not covering the entire trip.

[00:30:41] You know, as...

[00:30:44] You know, this is just...

[00:30:47] Every time I go and eat something,

[00:30:49] it is $30.

[00:30:51] If you get a cup of coffee,

[00:30:52] which I don't have coffee in my room.

[00:30:53] I don't have a coffee maker in my room,

[00:30:55] which sucks.

[00:30:57] But it's $5 for a cup of coffee here.

[00:31:00] It is not cheap

[00:31:02] to come and participate in CES.

[00:31:07] So thank you to everybody,

[00:31:08] the Patreon supporters,

[00:31:09] as well as the folks who are listening to the ad feed,

[00:31:12] because that is what's paying for me to be here.

[00:31:15] All right.

[00:31:16] Without further ado,

[00:31:18] let's go ahead...

[00:31:19] And I'm blanking on the person's name at the moment.

[00:31:22] So let's go ahead and welcome...

[00:31:24] I think his name is Ryan.

[00:31:25] Ryan, I could be wrong.

[00:31:27] Let's welcome somebody from EcoFlow

[00:31:30] to the show.

[00:31:32] All right.

[00:31:32] I'm here with all...

[00:31:34] Let's start over.

[00:31:35] Because I put both your names together.

[00:31:37] Yeah.

[00:31:37] I'm here with Ryan Oliver of EcoFlow.

[00:31:40] Ryan, how are you doing?

[00:31:41] Good.

[00:31:41] How are you doing?

[00:31:42] I'm good.

[00:31:42] Are you surviving CES?

[00:31:44] We are surviving CES and thriving.

[00:31:46] Okay, good.

[00:31:47] It's only Tuesday.

[00:31:47] It is only Tuesday.

[00:31:49] All right.

[00:31:55] I'm seeing the EcoFlow River.

[00:31:57] And then you have the Delta.

[00:31:59] Let's kind of...

[00:32:00] And then we got some other smaller devices

[00:32:03] like MagSafe batteries for your phone.

[00:32:05] Yeah.

[00:32:06] Why don't we start small and go up to the top?

[00:32:09] G2.

[00:32:09] G2?

[00:32:10] Yeah.

[00:32:11] What's that?

[00:32:12] So as I put MagSafe as an Apple standard specifically.

[00:32:15] Oh, I see.

[00:32:16] G2 is the universal standard.

[00:32:18] Oh, G, G, G.

[00:32:19] Yes.

[00:32:19] Yes.

[00:32:19] Yes.

[00:32:20] So yes, new for this year, actually.

[00:32:23] So new for late 2024 going into this year.

[00:32:26] As you're looking at our G2 chargers.

[00:32:29] Also, they have built-in USB-C.

[00:32:31] Right now we have out the 5,000 milliamp

[00:32:34] and the 10,000 milliamp batteries.

[00:32:36] Nice thing about these is these are real milliamps.

[00:32:39] So it's a reputable company providing you

[00:32:41] the actual milliamps that you pay for.

[00:32:44] In terms of the wattage,

[00:32:45] it sells 30 watts on the small guy

[00:32:48] and on the 10,000 milliamp 65 watts.

[00:32:50] That's both in and out.

[00:32:51] So you're going to be able to maximize,

[00:32:53] you know, if you're using a high drive device,

[00:32:55] laptops or a powerful Android phone,

[00:32:57] that's going to be able to fully maximize

[00:32:59] the input on that phone or device.

[00:33:00] Yeah, that's great.

[00:33:01] Now you could guess like handheld game devices

[00:33:03] would be good for that as well.

[00:33:04] Yeah, exactly.

[00:33:06] Okay.

[00:33:06] And then let's move up to the River 3 Plus.

[00:33:09] Yeah.

[00:33:09] So growing up in the River 3 Plus,

[00:33:11] I mean, this is a perfect size unit

[00:33:13] for like light backup.

[00:33:15] It's a great UBS unit.

[00:33:16] I have one of these running in my house.

[00:33:17] It's back in my Wi-Fi network,

[00:33:19] my fiber modem.

[00:33:21] You know, UPS,

[00:33:22] it's going to click on immediately

[00:33:23] as soon as there's a power outage.

[00:33:25] But it's also a great size device

[00:33:27] for, you know, camping, outdoor activities.

[00:33:30] You know, just making sure

[00:33:31] that you have those lights

[00:33:32] and other things you want to do,

[00:33:33] music going while you're camping

[00:33:35] or tailgating.

[00:33:36] And does this one,

[00:33:37] because one of the things

[00:33:38] that I like about

[00:33:39] in this product category

[00:33:40] is you can get a backup battery

[00:33:42] for your backup battery.

[00:33:44] Does the River 3 Plus

[00:33:46] have something like that?

[00:33:47] Yeah, all of our batteries

[00:33:48] are expandable now.

[00:33:49] So you can add an extra battery on that

[00:33:50] and double the lifespan on it.

[00:33:52] And I should go back.

[00:33:54] What does that cost?

[00:33:56] In terms of price,

[00:33:57] I have to look that up actually.

[00:33:59] I think it's about,

[00:34:00] we'll get your price on it.

[00:34:02] Okay.

[00:34:02] They change all the time, right?

[00:34:04] Sounds good.

[00:34:05] And then for those

[00:34:08] who want a little bit more power,

[00:34:10] you have the Delta,

[00:34:11] was it the Delta Plus?

[00:34:13] Yeah, so you have the Delta Pro.

[00:34:15] I'm sorry, you have the Delta 3 Plus.

[00:34:17] Delta 3 Plus is about

[00:34:19] one kilowatt hour backup.

[00:34:21] So yes, that's going to give you

[00:34:22] about four times more power

[00:34:23] versus the River 3 Plus.

[00:34:25] Good size.

[00:34:26] The nice thing about what I like about it,

[00:34:28] it's a good size weight.

[00:34:29] Like it's about 25 pounds.

[00:34:30] So it's going to give you

[00:34:31] still relatively portable,

[00:34:33] but also provide plenty of backup power.

[00:34:36] Other nice thing about it is

[00:34:37] it's our smallest battery

[00:34:38] that has an 18-minute watt output.

[00:34:40] Why that's important is

[00:34:41] that means anything

[00:34:42] that you can plug into your home outlet

[00:34:44] is going to be able to be charged

[00:34:45] with this battery.

[00:34:46] Thanks.

[00:34:47] That is sweet.

[00:34:49] So margaritas while camping.

[00:34:51] Margaritas while camping,

[00:34:52] induction stoves,

[00:34:53] hair dryers,

[00:34:54] whatever you want to do out in the field.

[00:34:56] That's perfect.

[00:34:58] And then when I was talking

[00:34:59] in the South Hall

[00:35:00] with one of the representatives,

[00:35:02] she was talking about

[00:35:02] that'd be good for content creators,

[00:35:05] people who work in the trades

[00:35:06] who need power.

[00:35:08] And it's expandable

[00:35:10] to one extra battery, right?

[00:35:13] Yeah.

[00:35:13] The Delta 3 Plus,

[00:35:14] you can add another battery to it.

[00:35:16] Okay.

[00:35:16] And then we're moving up the line

[00:35:17] and we have this bad chicken

[00:35:18] on the edge here,

[00:35:20] which looks like it's

[00:35:21] for a whole home battery.

[00:35:23] Yeah.

[00:35:23] And four times the size

[00:35:25] in terms of the capacity.

[00:35:26] Delta 3 Plus,

[00:35:27] you have Delta Pro 3.

[00:35:29] That does get more

[00:35:30] into the whole home backup.

[00:35:31] That's expandable.

[00:35:32] You can add 15 of those together

[00:35:33] to give you,

[00:35:34] you know,

[00:35:34] potentially weeks

[00:35:35] of critical backup

[00:35:36] on your devices.

[00:35:38] And this is,

[00:35:39] it's,

[00:35:39] you know,

[00:35:40] it's not only

[00:35:40] full home battery,

[00:35:42] but if you want

[00:35:43] to take it and...

[00:35:44] It's still portable.

[00:35:45] So if you have

[00:35:46] a serious camping trip,

[00:35:47] you know,

[00:35:47] you want to bring it

[00:35:48] with the RV.

[00:35:49] If you have

[00:35:49] a serious tailgate,

[00:35:51] you know,

[00:35:51] it's a great thing

[00:35:52] that it doesn't have

[00:35:53] to just stay at the house.

[00:35:54] It's something

[00:35:55] you can take with you.

[00:35:56] All right.

[00:35:57] Is there anything else,

[00:35:59] Ryan,

[00:35:59] that I should have

[00:36:00] asked you about

[00:36:00] that we're not seeing

[00:36:02] here at Showstoppers?

[00:36:03] Well,

[00:36:04] it is here.

[00:36:05] It's not on the table

[00:36:06] right now,

[00:36:06] but we do have

[00:36:07] our EcoFlow

[00:36:08] solar hat.

[00:36:10] Oh,

[00:36:11] yeah.

[00:36:11] Yeah.

[00:36:12] The,

[00:36:13] tell me about

[00:36:14] the solar hat.

[00:36:15] So the solar hat,

[00:36:16] you know,

[00:36:16] if you're on the go,

[00:36:17] if you're hiking

[00:36:18] or at the beach,

[00:36:20] you know,

[00:36:20] it protects you

[00:36:21] from the sun,

[00:36:21] but it also,

[00:36:22] you can hook up

[00:36:23] a phone to it

[00:36:23] and get a 12 watts out.

[00:36:25] So charge an iPhone

[00:36:25] in a couple hours

[00:36:27] using the power of the sun.

[00:36:29] And then I would

[00:36:30] describe this hat

[00:36:31] as a cross between

[00:36:32] like a witch's hat

[00:36:33] and a sun hat.

[00:36:34] How would you describe it?

[00:36:36] That might be about accurate,

[00:36:38] but I will go

[00:36:39] with more of a sun hat

[00:36:40] as a traditional

[00:36:41] kind of a sun hat shape.

[00:36:43] I would honestly,

[00:36:44] with the popularity

[00:36:44] of Wicked right now,

[00:36:45] I would lean into

[00:36:46] the Wicked.

[00:36:47] Yeah.

[00:36:48] Well,

[00:36:48] it is black.

[00:36:49] So yeah,

[00:36:50] but a lot of our products

[00:36:52] are black.

[00:36:52] So that's kind of the theme.

[00:36:54] No,

[00:36:54] it's a cool hat.

[00:36:56] All right,

[00:36:56] Ryan,

[00:36:57] how would people find EcoFlow

[00:36:58] and where would they go

[00:36:59] to buy one?

[00:37:00] Yeah,

[00:37:00] EcoFlow.com

[00:37:01] and we're available.

[00:37:02] It's been,

[00:37:02] you know,

[00:37:03] what the product is.

[00:37:03] We're available

[00:37:04] at a lot of retailers

[00:37:05] anywhere from Home Depot,

[00:37:06] Costco,

[00:37:07] Amazon.

[00:37:08] Excellent.

[00:37:09] Thank you very much,

[00:37:09] Ryan.

[00:37:09] Sure.

[00:37:11] Thanks,

[00:37:11] buddy.
