[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Hello everyone and welcome to Kilowatt, a podcast about electric vehicles, renewable energy,
[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_00]: autonomous driving, and much, much more.
[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_00]: My name is Bodhi and I am your host.
[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_00]: On this episode, we have some EV and Tesla news, but before we get to that, we need
[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_00]: newest supporter on Acast Plus and that is Analytical Agnostic.
[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It's really kind of you to support the show.
[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel really bad because Acast Plus does not send me an email when somebody supports
[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_00]: the show on Acast Plus.
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I get something from Patreon, but I get nothing from Acast Plus.
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_00]: So I apologize because you've been supporting the show for an entire month and I have
[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_00]: not recognized you.
[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_00]: So my bad.
[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll do a better job at keeping an eye on the Acast Plus feed, but thank you very much
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_00]: for doing that.
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Okie doke, let's jump into our news.
[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Dodge announced the price of the 2024 Charger EV.
[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So the RT version is going to go for $61,990 and that will have a range of 317 miles
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: and the Daytona Scat Pack version will be priced at $75,185 and have a range
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_00]: of 260 miles.
[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Both trims do qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit.
[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_00]: This vehicle is built on the STLA Large EV platform and is rocking a 400 volt architecture.
[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_00]: This might be one of those cars where I go to the dealership and I do a test drive.
[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Looks like the GMC Sierra EV Edition 1 pickup truck will be headed to dealers over the
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: next few weeks.
[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_00]: This is according to GM authority.
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_00]: So the sister truck or cousin truck, whatever you want to call it, the Chevy Silverado EV
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: pickup truck was released earlier this summer.
[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to read off the specs of the GMC EV Edition 1 which is a silly name
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: but I'm just going to read off the specs here.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's start with towing.
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_00]: It'll tow 10,000 pounds, has a max payload of 1,450 pounds, 0-60 in 4.5 seconds,
[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: 440 mile range.
[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm pretty sure that's the top end of the range because you get a choice between
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: a 170 kilowatt hour battery pack or a 200 kilowatt hour battery pack.
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't find what the low end of the range was.
[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to say 440 mile range is a 200 kilowatt hour battery pack, which
[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_00]: is not a cheap battery pack, it's pretty expensive.
[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and the price will be $99,495, which looks like it's down a little
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: bit from what GMC originally said the price was going to be.
[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a good looking truck.
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_00]: So now that we've talked a little bit about the GMC Sierra pickup truck, we need to
[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_00]: talk about the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: It just got a little bit cheaper to lease this vehicle and I'm going to be very
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_00]: clear, it is not cheap to lease this vehicle.
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying it got a little bit cheaper to lease it.
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: If you're interested in leasing this pickup truck, you'll have an allowance of
[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: 10,000 miles a year.
[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: It'll be $6,819 due at signing and a $990 lease.
[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's $400 cheaper than the prior lease amount.
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: But if you want to buy it, you're looking at $96,495.
[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's a little bit cheaper than the GMC EV edition.
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Since we're on the topic of leases, let's talk about some other leases that you can
[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: get that are actually affordable.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_00]: First up, we have the 2024 VW ID4 Standard.
[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: $3,499 due at signing, 10,000 miles a year, 36 month lease, $219 a month.
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: That that's pretty good.
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty good.
[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_00]: The Hyundai IONIQ 5, 33 month lease, which is a little weird, 33 months,
[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_00]: $3,999 down due at signing, excuse me, and $209 a month.
[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And then you have the Kia Niro Wind, which is a great car, 24 month lease,
[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: $3,099 down, and that'll get you $189 a month.
[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_00]: One other thing that Kia is offering is 0% financing for 60 months, if you
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: actually want to buy the Kia Niro EV.
[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_00]: That might actually be the better deal, not probably monthly, but
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_00]: better deal long-term.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's see here.
[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_00]: We are running through these stories way faster than I thought we would.
[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like the Lucid Gravity SUV may have both CCS and NACS charge ports.
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_00]: So X user Black Model 3, BLKMDL3 was at an invite only party for Lucid Motors.
[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_00]: And they had said that the vehicle is going to come with two charging ports.
[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Both ports are on the driver's side of the vehicle with the CCS port up front
[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_00]: and the NACS port in the rear.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So no matter which charging station you pull up to, you would be able
[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_00]: to easily charge your vehicle.
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure how I feel about this.
[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I love the convenience, but it adds cost and complexity to the vehicle.
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_00]: But really it's probably not that much cost and complexity.
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I think the Lucid Air Gravity is a cool looking car.
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Next up, Rivian announced that the charge port for the R2 will be moved
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: to the driver's side rear, which is exactly where it is for the Tesla.
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: So it'll be easier for it to charge on the supercharger network.
[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, when they were doing the refresh of the R1T and the R1S,
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought that they might do this as well, but they didn't.
[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But I'm glad that they're doing it for the R2 and I'm sure in some future
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_00]: revision of the R1 series, they'll definitely do this as well.
[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's move on to our final EV news story, which is a nice
[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_00]: transition into our Tesla news.
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Tesla's official NACS page has a new entrance when it comes to which
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_00]: automakers are coming soon to the supercharger network, like which
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_00]: automakers will be able to charge on the supercharger network.
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And that is Nissan.
[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_00]: So right now Ford and Rivian are currently able to charge on the
[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: supercharger network and then coming soon they have listed Nissan,
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_00]: which is a new listing.
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Then you have GM, Volvo, Polestar and Mercedes-Benz.
[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And let me be the first to say that I'm looking forward to charging up
[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: next to a Nissan Aria.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I think those are cool looking cars.
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, everybody, that is it for our EV news.
[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I do want to let you know that there is a way for you to support
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: the show if you're interested.
[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: You can go to patreon.com, ford slash kilowatt or support kilowatt.com.
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: If you don't like Patreon, you can always support us on ACAS Plus and
[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_00]: that link is in the show notes.
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Now I do need to let you know, and you're probably going to hear a lot
[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_00]: of creators talking about this.
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Apple's app store has told Patreon, hey, you need to let people
[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_00]: subscribe to Patreons through the iOS app.
[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And what that means is if you subscribe to this show through the
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_00]: iOS app, and I don't have a problem if you do, it's going to cost you
[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_00]: an additional 30% more because Apple charges 30%.
[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And I only ask for a dollar.
[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_00]: By the time Apple takes 30% and Patreon takes their 12 or 13%, whatever it is,
[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_00]: that doesn't leave very much money after that.
[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you are supporting this show through the Patreon website directly,
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_00]: that is awesome.
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you very much.
[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_00]: If you are planning on supporting this show through the iPhone app, I have,
[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I genuinely have no problem with that, but you will be charged 30% more
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_00]: for pretty much the same thing.
[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_00]: But the positive news is you won't have ads.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's get to our Tesla news.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Tesla can now sell cars directly to consumers in Kentucky.
[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So hooray for that.
[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: If you buy a Model S or an X, Tesla is offering a really interesting bundle.
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And this bundle is only available for Model S and Model X purchases, but I'm
[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_00]: sure something similar will work its way down to Model 3 and Model Y if
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_00]: this is successful.
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you choose to bundle the services, you'll get three years of full self-driving,
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_00]: three years of free supercharging and three years of premium connectivity for
[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_00]: $5,000.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And initially when I read this, I was like, oh, that's, that's a pretty
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_00]: good deal.
[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I was like, wait a minute, maybe it's not.
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's break it down.
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So the three years of full self-driving, it's a hundred dollars a
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_00]: month, 36 months, that's $3,600.
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Three years of premium connectivity.
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: If you pay by the month, it's $9.99 or you can pay $99 a year.
[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_00]: That gets you 300 or 360.
[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to use 360.
[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: So that brings the total to $3,960, which leaves $1,040
[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_00]: left over for the supercharging.
[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: So how many times would someone have to charge for this deal to be
[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_00]: advantageous for them?
[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, according to Motor Trend, the average cost, you know, they gave a high
[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_00]: number and a low number, but the average cost to charge a Model S or Model X
[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_00]: is $44.
[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_00]: So we divided 1,040 divided by $44 and that comes out to 24 charging
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_00]: sessions to break even.
[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Electrek did the math as well.
[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And according to their math, it's 27.
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_00]: So I feel like we're in that ballpark.
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's not impossible.
[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_00]: If you do a lot of road tripping, if you're a sales person, if you're somebody
[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_00]: who lives in an apartment and does a lot of supercharging, this actually
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_00]: might be worth it to you.
[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_00]: But if you are charging in your garage and you take two trips a year,
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_00]: this might not be the best deal.
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_00]: But still I love that they're bundling and thinking about this stuff.
[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I think $4,000 would have been the better price.
[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's move on to our next story.
[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_00]: A few weeks ago, Tesla rolled out FSD version 12.5 to
[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_00]: hardware four equipped vehicles.
[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like FSD version 12.5.1.3 has started rolling out for
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_00]: hardware three vehicles.
[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And it sounds like that started on August 10th.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Elon gave the following reason for the delay in the rollout to hardware three.
[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_00]: It takes a considerable amount of effort to optimize the code enough to
[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_00]: run on hardware three, Musk said.
[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_00]: It also needs to be validated separately.
[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's statements like this that are leading people to believe that
[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_00]: hardware three is nearing its limits when it comes to FSD functionality,
[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_00]: which leads one to wonder will FSD full self-driving level five
[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_00]: autonomy ever reach hardware three vehicles?
[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what you think.
[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Bodie B O D I E at 918digital.com.
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Next up we have some Cybertruck news.
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Elon said at the Q2 2024 earnings call that it was about time to start wrapping
[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_00]: up the Cybertruck foundation series and start offering the more affordable
[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_00]: version of the vehicle, which would be a rear wheel drive Cybertruck and
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: an all wheel drive Cybertruck.
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And then they would also sell the cyber beast as well.
[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And not long ago, Tesla updated their order page for the Cybertruck.
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And you could get, you could buy the rear wheel drive version for $60,990.
[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_00]: You could buy the all wheel drive version for $79,990 and you could
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_00]: get the cyber beast for $99,990.
[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And previously the cyber beast was like $119,000, but that came with a
[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_00]: bunch of stuff for the introductory pricing, and we're not going to talk
[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_00]: about that here today.
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Same with the foundation.
[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, Tesla has reversed course on that.
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_00]: They have, you can no longer order the base rear wheel drive or all wheel
[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_00]: drive version of this vehicle.
[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_00]: It's back to the foundation series for $99,990 and the cyber
[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_00]: beast for $119,990.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, this doesn't mean that those base models are being canceled.
[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It just means that they, at this time it doesn't make sense for Tesla to do that.
[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't a hundred percent know why.
[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't make sense for them to do that, but the, you know, they were
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_00]: removed, I would, um, I would anticipate that they're going to come back.
[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, we just, you know, we don't know why.
[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Tesla did launch the cyber truck in Canada and the headline I read said
[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_00]: it's pricey.
[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, guess what?
[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_00]: It's pricey here in the United States too.
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_00]: The foundation series in Canada is $137,990 Canadian, which is expensive
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_00]: but if you, you know, enter that into an exchange rate calculator for us
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_00]: dollars, it's $100,441.
[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's about $500 more than it would be if you were $460 more if you
[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_00]: bought it in the United States.
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_00]: That's not all that much.
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_00]: If you want the cyber beast version, you're going to spend $165,990
[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Canadian, which if you calculate the exchange rate is $120,825.
[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's a little bit more about, um, I dunno, I'm doing the math off the
[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_00]: $935 more or something like that than the cyber beast.
[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_00]: So pretty close to price, price parity, what they were talking about, uh,
[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_00]: in the headline because the headline, uh, I don't think was a great
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_00]: headline that it's, that it's pricey.
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_00]: What they're talking about is some OEMs are selling the
[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_00]: vehicles cheaper in Canada.
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And Tesla is choosing to go to price parity instead of offering
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_00]: a cheaper vehicle in Canada, which I'm sure Canadians would love for it
[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_00]: to be cheaper, but I don't, I don't see that as being pricey.
[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_00]: If it was like $100,000 more for a foundation series, then I would say,
[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah, that's pricey even $20,000 more is pretty pricey.
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_00]: But you know, $500, $900 it's not that big of a deal.
[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, let's see here.
[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_00]: We have two more Cybertruck stories.
[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_00]: If you were wanting or if you were waiting for the
[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Cybertruck range extender, it's not coming until early 2025.
[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_00]: But the good news is you can put a $500 deposit down.
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_00]: If you really want one, it's going to take up 30% of your bed.
[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_00]: It needs to be installed at a Tesla service center.
[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_00]: It'll cost a total of $16,000, but it will exchange your range from
[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_00]: 340 miles to 470 miles if you have the dual motor Cybertruck.
[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you have the cyber beast, that'll take you from 320 to 440 miles.
[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And I could definitely see in certain circumstances, especially
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_00]: if you're towing, if this, this would be a good deal.
[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_00]: If you're just driving around, you know, your city, I don't, I
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_00]: don't think this is worth the money.
[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but if you're towing something long range or even towing, uh, for a
[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_00]: work vehicle, this makes more, much more sense, much, much more sense.
[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And finally, you can buy a Cybertruck if you live in the United States and
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_00]: receive it about a month after you order it, which has raised some eyebrows
[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_00]: for the demand of the Cybertruck because the Cybertruck had a million
[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_00]: reservations and they've sold conservatively, let's say between 20 and
[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_00]: 30,000, maybe it's a little bit more than that at this point.
[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_00]: So where did all those reservation holders go?
[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, um, those 1 million reservation holders put down a hundred dollars,
[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: but that doesn't mean because you can put down a hundred dollars on a
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_00]: reservation, you can afford to buy a, you know, uh, 120 thousand dollar
[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: vehicle or a hundred thousand dollar vehicle.
[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_00]: That's, that's still a lot.
[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_00]: When Tesla offered up the Cybertruck, when they, when they first showed it off,
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_00]: the prices were pretty affordable and, uh, even the most expensive one, I
[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_00]: think was in the $70,000 range.
[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's not the case today.
[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know how many of those reservation holders are still on that
[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_00]: list currently I'm not on that list.
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I actually canceled my Cybertruck reservation yesterday.
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And the reason why was, is cause I don't think I was holding out hope that a
[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Cybertruck would come down into a price range that I could afford.
[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And I just don't think that's going to end up happening.
[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, could I afford a $60,000 truck?
[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, maybe I don't know.
[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Pretty sure my wife wouldn't be thrilled about that, but we could
[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_00]: probably afford a $60,000 truck based on our incomes and stuff, but
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: that's, I don't want to be car poor.
[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't, I don't want to own a vehicle that doesn't allow me to do all
[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_00]: the other fun things that I like doing just to own a vehicle.
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_00]: So I made the decision yesterday to just go ahead and cancel my reservation.
[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't mean that I don't want this truck or I don't think it's super
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_00]: cool because I would love to have one.
[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, my family thinks it's an abomination, but I really like
[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: the look of the Cybertruck and I would, I would love the opportunity to
[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_00]: own one, but, um, on the other side, I'm not in the habit of giving
[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_00]: companies money to hold onto forever in the hopes that someday
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_00]: that price will come down.
[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, at this point we've pretty much gotten through that,
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_00]: um, reservation queue, it seems like if you can buy it and get it in a month.
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So if I, if it ever does come down to a price that I can afford, I could
[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_00]: just easily go and, um, pick one up versus, you know, letting Tesla hold
[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_00]: onto my a hundred dollars and accrue interest on it over the, however
[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_00]: many years they've had it.
[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_00]: So, yep.
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_00]: So we canceled our, our Cybertruck order yesterday.
[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_00]: So I was honestly, if I'm, if I'm going to be honest, it was a little sad.
[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It has been something that I've been thinking about for a little bit.
[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And, um, when I did it, I was a little bummed for about 15 minutes afterwards.
[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So, all right, everybody let's call that a show.
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I hope everybody enjoyed the show for whatever reason my voice is going out.
[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So sorry about that.
[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_00]: If I left in some of the clips where I just completely goes out, I
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_00]: tried to get all of them.
[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I tried to rerecord as much as I could, but the problem with that is
[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_00]: your voice continues to go out when that happens.
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not sick or anything.
[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I just think I've been talking a lot on Mike lately.
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's the reason, um, beyond the post, please, please, please go
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and check out my podcast beyond the post.
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_00]: My buddy, Rob Dunwin, did I do this together?
[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, it is honestly one of, I think it's my best show that I do.
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And for a lot of different reasons, there's a lot of challenges to doing
[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_00]: that show, you know, you're working with another person.
[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a single Mike podcast.
[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_00]: So Rob and I have to be able to find time to record.
[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Fortunately, we're both pretty flexible and committed to doing this.
[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's not been that much of an issue, but then you have
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_00]: to learn how to work with somebody.
[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_00]: You have to, uh, for me, I do the editing on that show
[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_00]: and I've never done much video editing.
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I've done a little bit here and there for small projects, but
[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I've never done it in at this level.
[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And it has been a huge learning process, but it's been good.
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I love challenges.
[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So please go check out beyond the post.
[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_00]: You'll find links in the show notes and it's all about, you
[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_00]: know, creating digital content.
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you are somebody that wants to do short form content, like
[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_00]: TikTok and Instagram, or if you're somebody who wants to do YouTube
[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_00]: channel, or you want to be an author or we have, we are interviewing
[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_00]: people from all different types of disciplines.
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And I really think it's a good show.
[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_00]: So the latest episode is Alison Sheridan.
[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_00]: She is on that.
[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_00]: This is her part two episode.
[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_00]: You can go back and listen to part one as well.
[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_00]: As you all know, Alison is one of my favorite people and she knows a lot
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_00]: about creating content that is accessible to everyone, and then she
[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_00]: knows a lot about community.
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what Rob and I talked to her about.
[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's just, I'm going to stop talking because this isn't supposed
[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_00]: to be a commercial for beyond the post, but it is truly.
[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm, I'm truly proud of this, this project.
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_00]: So please go check it out.
[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, if you only watch one episode, give me your feedback.
[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what you think.
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Bodie B O D I E at nine, when a digital.com.
[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, everybody.
[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much on Friday's episode.
[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_00]: We are going to cover Lucid's Q2 2024 earnings goal.
